Since Danielle and I have just gotten married and planned and paid for a wedding ourselves (with a little help from our parents), we decided to make a blog series of things that we’ve learned so that we can help out other couples that are trying to plan a wedding on a budget.  We’re calling this “What We’ve Learned Wednesday”.

Okay guys! You picked your groomsmen, now what? Well now you gotta get those dudes some gifts. And if you’re anything like me you’ll actually enjoy this. I’m blessed to be surrounded by great people so my groomsmen were awesome and my closest friends. So when it came to getting my guys gifts I was excited. This was my chance to get them something that could help show my appreciation for them and below I have a few gift ideas and tips that might help you guys out. Because let’s face it, we’re not the best of shoppers.

Have a budget in mind
While these guys are your best buds, you also probably don’t want to break the bank. Think about how much you want to spend in total, then divide that by the number the amount of people you have in your party. For example, I spend about $75.00 per person and had 8 groomsmen. Totaling to about $600. You can spend this much, less, or more; it really doesn’t matter. I just encourage you to think about it, and budget ahead of time.

Be practical
When I was looking for gifts I wanted to try to get something practical for everyone. This was kind of difficult as my party was quite diverse. Some liked camo, some didn’t, some were about video games, some were about being outside. Some could read, some couldn’t. Okay, everyone could read, but some didn’t. So I stuck to some things I knew everyone would like.

Bags
Everyone could use another bag. They’re great for overnight or weekend trips, laptops and gear, and storage. You can’t really go wrong with a cool, personalized bag.

Sunglasses
Sunglasses are super great to have. Chances are your groomsmen already have some, but that’s okay! Sunglasses are also like chapstick, you can’t really have too many. The only downfall to this gift is if your groomsmen have glasses. If so, that’s unfortunate, but if it’s just one person, I’d go ahead and get them as a gift anyway. You never know, that person might get, or already have, contacts.

Socks
If you and your groomsmen are like me, you like fun socks. These are super practical and rather inexpensive. You can get a pack of the same socks for everyone, or mix and match. It’s totally up to you. I chose different socks I thought matched each guy’s personality.

Letters
Now I don’t want to get all sappy, and you probably don’t either, but this is a great opportunity to really tell your guys how much they mean to you. If I were you, I’d take it!

Don’t stress
If you don’t have a big budget or don’t know what to get, don’t stress it. Chances are your guys are just extremely excited to be a part of your big day.
