Nowadays more and more couples are opting to do a first look. What is a first look you ask? It’s when the bride and groom have an opportunity to see one another before the wedding. Yes, before they say I do and before any guests have the opportunity to see them. Many people say that it’s bad luck to see each other before you get married, but we disagree. In fact, we think doing a first look is an awesome thing to do for a few reasons.
- You get a moment alone to spend with your fiancé
Let’s face it, on wedding day there’s a lot of emotions going on. You’re about to make the biggest, best decision of your life. And that can be a bit overwhelming to do all at once in front of all your guests and having a first look lets you spend that intimate moment alone with your fiancé. - You get to knock out the bulk of your wedding photos
Since you and your fiancé have already seen each other, you can start pictures right away. This means you can knock out bride and groom portraits, bridal portraits, family portraits, and even grandparent portraits. That way when your ceremony is done, you can go enjoy your reception! - Say what you want to say
Not everyone writes their own vows. And a lot of the people don’t want to say them in front of everyone, which is understandable. Having a first look gives you the opportunity to say your vows to your fiancé. If you don’t want to write your own vows, you can write each other a letter or just say what you feel right there on the spot. It makes for an extremely intimate moment, which is great because your photographers and videographers will be there to capture it 🙂
Don’t let us convince you though. Talk to your fiancé and see what they think about the first look. Dylan + Danielle did a first look at their wedding and wouldn’t have had it any other way.
