Branded images are a great way to get your business’s message and ideas out there. If you don’t consider yourself a graphic designer, don’t have one on staff, or don’t have the money to hire one, don’t worry! Whether you’re a computer novice or you’ve dipped your toe in your fair share of image editing, there are plenty of free tools you can utilize to create professional-looking branded graphics for your business. Here are 5 of my recommended free design tools for creating/editing branded graphics.

Beginner

Pablo.buffer.com

Pablo has all the design tools any beginner would need to create some great social images. They have a giant library of images and fonts for you to use, and you can also easily resize your images depending on the social platform. What’s even better, is if you use Buffer to schedule out your social posts, then you can do that right from Pablo.

Intermediate

Canva

Not only is Canva great for social graphics, but it is also ideal for creating design presentations and print materials. They have millions of stock photographs and illustrations, photo filters, free icons and shapes, and hundreds of fonts to choose from. There’s also an iPad app that you can use.

PicMonkey

PicMonkey is a great option for photo editing, touch ups, design tools, and collages. They even include designer-made templates and tutorials for you to take advantage of. There’s a free version, and there’s also a premium version if you want to get rid of the PicMonkey watermark. This is also a good option if you like to edit on-the-go because PicMonkey also has a mobile app.

BeFunky

BeFunky’s Photo Editor and Design tools are very similar to Canva and Pic Monkey. They have templates for all types of projects such as social graphics, brochures, and posters. The downside is they only have 1 template option for each of those categories unless you upgrade. If you want to start from scratch, though, that won’t be a problem.

Advanced

GIMP

If you feel your are advanced enough to handle a full-blown design program, but don’t have the budget for Adobe Photoshop, then you might want to give GIMP a try. This is a program you have to download on your computer. You can get it HERE. The plus about this is you can work offline. This program will give you the most capability out of these 5 tools. The biggest pro of GIMP is that you have the capability of opening Photoshop files which gives you the freedom to use any Photoshop templates you may find.
