If you’re looking to book a bridal session with your photographer, there’s some things you need to think about before you make your appointment: when your dress alterations will be ready, hair and makeup, and location. Today, we’re going to share with you some local (budget-friendly) locations to take your bridal portraits. If you’re looking for some indoor options, check out this post here. If not, check out these beautiful outdoor locations for bridal portraits below!
Using Your Venue
The first location you should think about is your venue! They are a great option for a few reasons. First, you can almost always have your session there for free. Second, taking your bridals at the same location that your wedding photos will be taken will ensure that they match stylistically. Lastly, it allows you and your photographer to scope out the best locations for portraits before the big day.
Bridal Portraits in the Park
Parks are always a great option if your venue doesn’t work, or if you just want a different look. And, there are plenty of options to choose from!
- Fontainebleau State Park or the Lakefront in Mandeville
- Solomon Episcopal Conference Center in Loranger
- Crescent Park in New Orleans
- Arsenal/Veterans Memorial Park in Baton Rouge
- Capitol State Park in Baton Rouge
All of these places are beautiful and FREE (or just cost a very small entrance fee).
College Campuses
College campuses can also be great outdoor locations to take bridal portraits. Being an alumni of the university can be especially sentimental too. Don’t worry if you aren’t though, because campuses like Southeastern in Hammond and LSU in Baton Rouge offer plenty of areas that don’t scream “college campus”. They offer greenery PLUS some really cool looking architecture.
Other Options for Your Outdoor Bridal Portraits
Want less of a nature-y feel? Think about downtown locations such as downtown Hammond, Ponchatoula, or Covington. They both offer colorful buildings with character that would contrast well against a wedding dress.
We’ve probably already given you a sufficient amount of ideas, but here’s some last few location ideas to think about for your bridal session:
- White Oak Fields ($100/hr)
- The Berry Barn and The Greenery at Liuzza Land ($100 for 1-2 hours)
- The sand dunes in Covington (for a more desert/boho vibe)
There’s so many beautiful outdoor locations in this area that no matter which place you choose, your bridal session photos will turn out beautifully!
