Ah, wedding planning. Managing wedding planning stress is difficult. Wedding planning is yet another thing in life that will test your patience and possibly question your sanity. We’ve been in the wedding industry for years and have just about seen it all. We’ve seen the tears, the tantrums, and everything in-between. Planning a wedding can be overwhelming, but that’s why you have us. We’re kind of like your friendly neighborhood spiderman, but instead of catching bad guys, we offer advice on managing wedding stress and staying organized throughout the process. Which some would argue is even better 😉
The Struggle is Real
Wedding planning is a lot of work. So much work that it’s some people’s full-time jobs. Not only do you have to determine a guest list, but you’ve got to find the perfect venue and food. Figure out if you’d prefer a DJ or live band. Not to mention keep it all within some kind of budget. Because chances are, you’re not a Kardashian. It’s easy to get caught up in the chaos and let the stress take over. So how are you supposed to handle said struggle? Well, keep on reading!
Tip #1: Prioritize and Delegate
One of our number one goals is to help you stay sane and enjoy the wedding process. And the first way to make sure that happens is to prioritize what matters most to you and your partner. Don’t skip this bit and don’t think you can do it alone. Your partner is getting married too and the wedding day is just as much theirs as it is yours. While they may not have any preferences, it’s always best to handle this bit together. So, set a coffee date and make a list of your top three must-haves (e.g., amazing food, great music, and a photographer you love cough cough, that’s us ). Once you’ve nailed down your priorities, delegate tasks to your partner, friends, and family members who are eager and able to help. Here’s a podcast episode all about setting your priorities 🙂
Tip #2: Create a Wedding Binder (or Digital Equivalent)
We’re here to tell you organization is key and will make your life so much easier. Create a wedding binder or Google folder where you can store all your vendor contracts, receipts, and inspiration boards. This will help you keep everything all in one place and stay on task and on track. It’s also a great way to keep everyone in the loop. If you’re not the binder type, there’s apps out there that you might find useful. The Knot and WeddingWire have loads of resources you might find helpful. We’ve also got a few apps for you to check out below 🙂 But full transparency, we’ve never used ‘em.
Tip #3: Take Breaks and Practice Self-Care
It’s easy to get caught up in wedding planning. It can quickly become a 24/7 job, but trust us, you’ll 100% need a break. So don’t forget to schedule time for self-care, whether that means taking a relaxing bath, going for a run, or binge-watching your favorite TV show or hanging out with friends. Your mental health (and your partner) will thank you.
Tip #4: Communicate with Your Partner (and Vendors)
Communication is key when it comes to wedding planning and honestly life in general. Make sure you and your partner are on the same page (see Tip #2) and that you’re communicating regularly with your vendors. Don’t be afraid to ask questions or express your concerns – it’s better to address issues early on than to stress about them later. Asking these questions will also help the day of your wedding feel less stressful.
Pro tip: Make sure you book yourself a day of coordinator to help with vendor communication, day of timeline, and last minute craziness. This will allow you to fully be present for your wedding day!
Tip #5: Laugh and Have Fun
Lastly but certainly not least, remember to enjoy the process! Wedding planning can get wild and stressful, but it’s also an incredible opportunity to connect with your partner and loved ones. Don’t hold back the laughs and don’t forget to have fun!
