You’re getting married! And guess who is just as excited as you and your fiance? Y’all’s moms! Here’s some different ways to include mom in your wedding planning and the big day.
Wedding dress shopping together
You can make a day of it and invite your mother and future mother-in-law to participate. If they are from out-of-town you can set up a video call for them to watch you model all the gowns.
Attend Bridal Shows Together
Your fiance is most likely not going to want to attend these events, so have the moms tag along. It’s especially handy to have them there if they will be involved in the finances of the wedding because they could meet vendors with you and help you decide which ones to hire.
Give a Gift From the Heart
Some people give handkerchiefs, some give roses, but no matter the gift you give to your mother and mother-in-law on the wedding day, make it come from the heart. Even a handwritten letter can mean so much!
Something Borrowed
You can incorporate items from your mother and mother-in-law into your “something old, something new, something borrowed, and something blue”. This could be jewelry, pieces of your mom’s wedding gown, or any other heirloom items.
Take a first look photo together
Brides usually take a first look photo with their father, but taking one with your mother can be extra special as well.
Multi-Generational Photos
Get your photographer to take a photo with your mother and grandmother for a beautiful keepsake moment. Be sure to get a detail shot of all of your hands with your rings on! Here is how you can do that!
Display Family Wedding Photos
Honor your past by putting family wedding photos on display from each side of the family.
Honor her memory
If your mother or mother-in-law has passed, honor her memory by saving her a seat in the front row at the ceremony and including a memory table with photos of her at the reception. One of our brides even had a drawing of her made to sit in her spot at the ceremony as a special gift for her groom.
There’s so many other ways to include mom in your wedding and wedding planning process. Get creative, and break traditions!
